You might consider counseling if you are experiencing one or more of the following:
  • Symptoms of anxiety and/or depression
  • Frequent arguments
  • Poor or ineffective communication
  • Lack of emotional and/or physical intimacy
  • Not feeling understood or valued
  • Problems related to in-laws/extended family
  • Loss of passion
  • Infidelity
  • Trust issues
  • Arguments over money
  • Midlife crisis
  • Threat of divorce or separation
  • Repetitive problems that don’t get resolved

Benefits from counseling include:

  • Overall sense of wellbeing
  • Improving communications skills - learn how to listen to others, and have others listen to you
  • Breaking old behaviors and developing new ones
  • Discovering new ways to solve problems

Couples get involved in the everyday stress of raising children, working in demanding jobs and paying bills. Years go by and you find yourself asking:

  • Where is the person I fell in love with?
  • Why do we always argue about the same issues yet cannot find a solution? Why does it seem like we are stuck in this negative cycle?
  • Why doesn’t my partner understand how I am feeling?
  • How come he/she is always angry with me?
  • Why does he/she become so distant when we argue?

Five Things Every Marriage Needs!

  • Altruism: Couples who put each others happiness first are much more satisfied with their marriages than ones that don't.

  • Friends: Some one-on-one time is nice and necessary, but you both also need the social outlet, companionship, and support of others.

  • Commitment: Total dedication to the relationship means you're more likely to work at keeping it strong.

  • In-jokes: They may sound like something out of junior high, but those pet names and silly secrets help keep you connected.

  • Rituals: Things like texting "I love you," traditions such as going to the same restaurant on every anniversary, and nightly kisses, energize and enrich you both.
